Grüner Veltliner Ried Hoher Weg 2016

The “Hoher Weg” (high path) leads over the hump of Johannesbergen. Since the wind is almost always blowing up here, the grapes dry quickly in the morning. Botrytis doesn’t stand a chance, grape ingredients become concentrated. We do not harvest until November, giving us healthy and deeply mature grapes.


Origin: Hoher Weg – Herrnbaumgarten – Lower Austria

Soil: Parent loess. Planted with various blooming herbs and clover types to promote biodiversity and soil organisms.

Harvest: Picked in several rounds in late October and November, hand picking with strict selection – without botrytis.

Grape processing & vinification: De-stemmed, 12 hours of maceration with moderate must oxidisation, fermentation at room-temperature in traditional 600-liter oak barrels; left on its lees until May; not filtered before bottling.

Analysis: Alc.: 13 % ABV; residual sugar: 3 g/l; Acidity: 5.3 g/l
