Riesling – Alte Reben 2015

Over 25-year-old vines with a well branched root system yield but a few, particularly small grapes. In the best years, we vinify these optimally nourished grapes into a ripe and vigorous Riesling.


Origin: Ried Krainholz – Herrnbaumgarten – Lower Austria

Soil: Cultivated parent soil on loess and schlier.Planted with various blooming herbs and clover types to promote biodiversity and soil organisms.

Harvest: Hand picking with strict selection. Only the last picking round beginning of November was used.

Grape processing & vinification: Harvest at low temperatures (below 10°C). 8 hours of maceration, fermentation without chilling. Left on its lees until May; not filtered before bottling.

Analysis: Alc.:13.5 % ABV; residual sugar: 7.9 g/l; acidity: 7.8 g/l

Description: “Apricot jam, red grapefruit, very concentrated, vigorous body, powerful, with much potential.” (transl. from Vinaria)

Food pairing: Matches fish with vigorous sauces; goes with hot Asian and exotic dishes.

Drinking temperature: 10 – 12°C

Best age to open: 2017 to 2022
