Origin: Ried Altenbergen – Herrnbaumgarten – Lower Austria

Soil: clay-rich marl coverd with limestone.

Variety: Zweigelt

Harvest: hand picking with strict selection

Grape processing & vinification: Mash fermentation with pumping over (17 days), malolactic fermentation and vinification in small Burgundy barrels (18% new oak, light toasting,  15 month).

Analysis: Alc.: 13.5 % ABV; residual sugar: 1.0 g/l; acidity: 4.9 g/l

Description: “Deep dark, ripe cherry, good enough to eat, despite its massiveness, fruit is always in the foreground, delicate, fine tannins.”

If the wine is drunk before 2018, it should be aerated intensely (12-24 hours in open bottle or 4-6 hours in decanter).
